The gears of war begin turning...

OMG, gears of war has to be the most fun i've had playing a game since dead rising... wait, that's not that long. well the most fun i've had playing a shooter on a console. not only is it graphically amazing but the gameplay it offers is breathtaking. Now i must admit I've only played up to the end of act one, but it has just been staying fun. it's awesome. This could be the one game people use to see what the xbox 360 can do... AND IT'S A FIRST GEN GAME1!! that means as soon as the industry start pushing the limits of the 360 we'll be getting some amazing looking entertainment.

Now this isn't to say the game is flawless. but because i've had so much fun playing it, i've totally fogiven the minor flaws. one of the ones that it most notible is the occasional LOD (level of detail) model loads. Sometimes it pauses and catches on loading the assests. and sometimes the AI get's stuck behind something. but all in all it was so worth the wait. GG epic & microsoft. totally awesome.

on a side note...

i wonder if i should turn this into a weekly look at my job in the gaming industry. since i would be bound by an NDA i think it would be good to do a break down of what my job is and what i will be/am currently doing. i wonder if people would read it. maybe i should just keep it private until after the project is done then publish it and add commentary as a post mortem on the game or something. i guess i'm just brain storming.

another post from art history

well i finally got my wireless internet working today, it was being weird while in class. so i couldn't browse myspace while listening to the lecture. also the guy who sits behind me fell asleep in class again and started snoring, i think that kept me awake. Then he woke up a little and i swear he farted when he did. it was extremely awkward.

I'm almost done with my website, i need to add more content and move some stuff around. but other then that it's pretty much ready to go live. ok, that's it for now.

3d modeling blog

I've noticed a lot of artists have been doing sketch blogs. I think this is awesome. but how about something for us 3d modelers, i propose a modeling blog. since most of us can crank out a pretty cool model withing a day or two, i think a blog with 3d models would work, now it all depends on how much time we all have. but when i have some free time i'll start one. cause there is just some cool stuff out there.

The reason i bring this up is that I've seen some really cool art come out of the sketchBlog community, and i want to model some of that. now i realize that 3dmodels does take longer then sketching , but i want to not only show finished models, but also the process behind modeling something, to show how many itterations something might go through.

weekly update

well i'm again in my art history class and i'm posting another blog. yes this is an atempt to keep myself awake before the midterm exam we are going to have. Not only am i posting a new blog but on a more creative note, i've set up a google/picasa online photo album. i don't what my plan is for this, maybe a place for pictures of my friends and my life. i don't know what has changed in these years, but don't people remember being bored by people's slide shows of vacations? why are public photo gallery's so interesting to people that aren't in the photos? i personally could care lass about some random person standing infront of somewhere i don't care about. now if they are of my friends i don't mind, but my attention span will only allow me to get through about 4-5 photos before i get bored. Mostly i suspect my online gallery will be for me and my close friends. and if you aren't in the pictures then they probably won't mean much. But that's ok because i don't like looking at your pictures either, lol.

on a side note, i don't undersatnd people who create a personal profile, on myspace or friendster or whatever flavor of friend networking site you choose, and all they upload are headshot pictures. or people that don't show their face or they are way far off in the distance and never show what they look like. I was discussing this with my girlfriend and we came to the conclusion that maybe the ones that don't post a close up pic feel self conscious about the way they look, in the same way maybe the people who post just headshots perhaps have a self esteem issue with they way their body looks.

so, ya, right now in class we're talking about a female artist that all her paintings are of revenge upon men, and are of strong female characters killing men. this is probably because she was abused physically/mentally/sexually throughout her artistic schooling so i think she has a right to be. i'd be pissed too.

oh ya, my public photo albums: http://picasaweb.google.com/ryanmichaelmoore/

ok, that's it about now. i'll probably keep posting once a week on monday still because i have the time during class and it looks like i'm taking notes. i love my WiFi in class. not only can i do stuff that's not related to class, but more often then not i look up stuff we are currently discussing in class and do augmented learning.

Something

To the general interest of other, i am posting something. This is to try to stay away in my art history class right now. The lights are out the professor keeps droning on and on. Last week someone actually fell asleep and started snoring, he's not here this week. I don't know for sure weither he's sick, or just embarresed for snoring during class. I found it extremely funny, but I felt bad for the instructor because i think no matter how boring a lecture may be, if you can't stay awake, you should just go home and sleep, or at least leave the classroom. I think it's disrespectable to the instructor if you fall asleep in the class even tho the lecture could be boring.

on a side note, i have unreliable at best wireless at the school so i can surf the internet during class, most of the time i look up stuff that partains to the class. but right now, it's just driveing me nuts cause he could speed the process up so much.

alright enough bitching for me. i'm going to work on my website. yay. i hate flash sometimes.
